How best to use Instagram Marketing for your Interior Business
‘Instagrammability’ appears more and more in briefs for architects and interior designers these days. So you need to make sure that you are on their radar. Visual appeal is key and as Instagram is the most visual platform, it’s where you need to be!
Our attention spams are short, we consume everything so quickly, so your Instagram imagery has to make an impact! It has to make people stop their scroll!
Instagram for business provides an opportunity to quickly communicate through one image everything from your USPs to your market position.
Instagram for interior business gives you the opportunity to display your products or services, showcase your process and tell your brand story, which let’s be honest is pretty amazing (and probably why it’s my favourite platform!). It allows you to keep an eye on your competition, make an impact and speak directly to your potential clients.
Customers are willing to spend a substantial amount of money and in exchange require information from you to minimise the perceived risks of spending their hard earned cash. You need to build their trust and eventually convert them into leads and you can do this through Instagram.
Instagram for a business, when used and executed well, can become a powerful marketing tool in building your brand awareness and nurturing your potential clients.
Your potential on Instagram is HUGE but don’t worry, I’m going to share some advice to help you stand out!
First up, your Instagram bio. You only have 150 characters. So use them wisely! In these 150 you need to showcase who you are and what you do. If you have won any awards, make sure these make an appearance here too!
Next up is your content. Instagram is a visual platform and it always will be. Your content gives you an opportunity to speak directly to your audience, allowing you to inspire, entertain, educate and engage. Tell your brand story and ultimately answer the question your audience will always have: ‘Why should I choose you?’
You have 125 characters to make an impact.
This is the maximum length that shows up in people’s feeds until they decide to click and read more. You need to capture their attention straight away. This is called your ‘Hook’ as it does what it says - it hooks them in.
Depending on what type of interior image or video you are using, some of them could have an interesting story behind them. So tell it to your audience!
REMEMBER, you are the expert so share some interior insider tips with your followers. Here you are providing value to your audience and this is key. What you may think is so minuscule and is a very basic practice or piece of information, may just be the very thing that attracts people within your audience to choose you over your competitor!
Sometimes you will want your Instagram content to be short and sweet. Those sorts of posts work too! Tell your audience why you like the particular image or video you are sharing, share client feedback (people love social proof!) or a snappy on-brand comment which makes your clients smile.
ALWAYS make sure that your Instagram content for business is structured in short paragraphs. This makes it easy to read for everyone, especially scan readers!
End your content with a short ‘call-to-action’ (CTA). Here, you can tell your audience what you want them to do next. Keep it short and simple.

Instagram allow you to tag people and locations - so use it! This allows you to further amplify the reach of your post and share it among the interior images taken in the same location or with the same people / brand. Where relevant tag any brands used on the projects or that are evident in the image / video.
If you are struggling for some ideas for your content, share with your audience;
What is it that your interior business does?
Do you manufacture goods?
Do you provide a service?
Think of different ways your interior product or services can be shown on Instagram. Check out some of these ideas:
Interior Symmetry - everyone loves symmetry!
Focus on the interior product or service
Show the people who make up your interior brand
Focus on the detail
Show some behind the scenes of your business (make sure this is on brand)
