5 Instagram Metrics You Need To Be Tracking
Gone are the days that the only metric that we cared about was likes! For my clients I don’t even look at their likes, there is literally so much more information we can get by looking at these other metrics!
Here are the top 5 metrics that YOU need to be tracking within your social media;
Saves
When people save your content it means they value your content. And who doesn’t want that? This boosts you within the algorithm and in turn Instagram will show your post to more people. So have a think, what content could you create to generate you some more saves? Think about the content that you save and why you save it. Then translate that into content for your industry. All my followers at this stage know that Saves are my favourite metric! It is the one that I value most as for Instagram, right now - it is the one they are valuing YOUR content on! What can you tell your audience / show your audience that will make them hit that glorious save button?
Shares
When people share your content it means more people are getting to see your content. Again boosting you within the algorithm and getting you new followers. Shares are such an important metric for those very reasons but it also means that your content was not only valuable but people resonated with it so much that they felt the need to share it with other social media users! I know anytime I see something I think a friend or business owner would resonate with, I share it with them! You don’t have to think to much about the type of content that get shares every second of the day – memes! So again, think about the content that you share and why you share it. Did it make you laugh, think of someone or teach you something? Then translate that into content for your industry.
Profile Visits
Watch your ratio between your profile visits and new followers. If this is not high then have a look at what improvements you can make to your grid, layout and bio. Of course when people check out our profile we want them to hit the follow button. So if they are not, we have to ask ourselves why. Why not get a friend or another business owner to have a look at your profile with fresh eyes and see if they can tell what you do within the first 3 seconds of looking at your profile. Is your branding recognisable so that they will remember you next time they see those colours or your logo?
New Followers
If you are not gaining new followers regularly then have a look to see what changes you need to make to your content to make it more appealing. Does your content entertain? Educate? Inspire? Think about creating some content pillars like these and fill them out with some posts so that people get value from your content. Otherwise, why would they want to follow you?
Revenue
Quality over quantity, always! Some profiles can have 10k followers but make no sales. It doesn’t matter to me what your followers count is, aslong as it is creating sales for you. Some people are VERY hung up on the 10k mark, but there is no point buying followers and buying likes just to hit this mark and have a highly disengaged audience who let’s face it, do not want to buy from you. Having 500 followers who are highly engaged and ready to buy from you is SO much more impactful and meaningful. So let’s focus on quality over quantity to improve your revenue stream!
